Advisory Committee Application

 

The Crisis Nursery Advisory Committee is currently comprised of the following members:

 

Bev LaChance, Women's and Children's Alliance

MaryAnna Peavey, Junior League of Boise

Julie Thompson, Community Volunteer

 

 

Members of the advisory committee are a core group of supporters, consumers, and resource people whose relationship with the nursery gives the project greater visibility in the community. They are from diverse ethnic, economic, and religious groups as well as from the professional and business communities that can help make the project relevant to a larger, more varied population.  In addition, advisory committee members may increase the organization’s fundraising potential by broadening its base for contacts, for in-kind resources, and for direct financial support.

 

Criteria

bullet

Organizations or individuals who have an interest in the creation of respite for families of children with disabilities, chronic or terminal illnesses and for children at risk of abuse and neglect.

bullet

Organizations or individuals who have specific talents or resources that can be of benefit to the respite program.

bullet

Organizations and individuals that reflect the ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic diversity of the community served by the nursery.

 

Roles

Activities and roles will be selected by individual members in order to maximize their own personal strengths and interests.  Roles may include any one or combination the following:

Take responsibility for specific tasks and/or

bullet

Attend meetings and provide input and/or

bullet

Make contacts and/or

bullet

Carry out specific functions independently and/or

bullet

Provide support, even if in name only, in order to lend credibility to the project.

 

Specific areas of expertise will be sought to assist with:

bullet

Developing program policies and operating procedures

bullet

Promotion or marketing of the program to potential users and the community at large

bullet

Developing funds and sources of funding

bullet

Identifying needs and finding resources to fill those needs

bullet

Facility design

bullet

Project policies and operating procedures

bullet

Fundraising

bullet

Research and Evaluation

bullet

Public Relations and Media

bullet

Build relationships

bullet

Increase contacts

bullet

Assist with regulations, procedures, and liabilities

bullet

Encourage support and visibility

bullet

Leaders, families, policy makers, and advocates

 

Leadership

The committee shall be governed by a chairperson, who shall submit a report to the Board of Directors for Idaho ’s Heart, but will be lead by the membership.

 

Organization

Regular members shall serve on the committee until February 2007.  At that time, roles and responsibilities will be reexamined.  Individuals with specific expertise may be asked to attend certain meetings but may not be considered regular members of the Advisory Committee.

 

The committee shall meet as often as desired but no less than four (4) times per year and will not be limited in size or scope.  Once the committee is large enough it will be divided into subcommittees included, but not limited to, the following:

Finance: Reviews budget, financial reports, and helps develop the fundraising plan

bullet

Nominations: Recruits additional AC members

bullet

Planning: To review and recommend the future direction and growth of the project

bullet

Public relations: Develops methods to enhance the visibility of the project in the community

bullet

Volunteer: Develop recruitment procedures, training programs, and recognition events in support of volunteers

 

Subcommittees will be chaired by an advisory committee member and each member shall serve on at least one subcommittee.
