Administration of Children and Families: Child Maltreatment. The 1988 amendments to the Child Abuse and Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) directed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish a national data collection and analysis program. The Children's Bureau in the Administration on Children, Youth and Families, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, collects and analyzes the data from the States. Data from the States are used for the annual report, Child Maltreatment, which is published each spring. In addition, data from the States are used systematically to measure the impact and effectiveness of CPS through performance outcome measures.

General Statistics About Children:

Child and Youth Well-Being Index

The Child and Youth Well-Being Index (CWI) is an evidence-based measure of trends over time in the quality of life or well-being of America's children and young people. It comprises several interrelated composite/summary indices of annual time series of numerous social indicators of the well-being of children and young people in the United States The composite indices give a sense of the overall direction of change (improvement or deterioration) in the well-being of America's children and youth, as compared to two base years of the indicators, 1975 and 1985. 

Easy Access to the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports Easy Access is a family of web-based data analysis tools developed for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) by the National Center for Juvenile Justice (NCJJ) to provide access to recent, detailed information on juvenile crime and the juvenile justice system. Together, the Easy Access applications provide information on national, state, and county population counts, as well as information on homicide victims and offenders, juvenile court case processing, and juvenile offenders in residential placement facilities. Every Child Matters By employing systematic and adequately funded public education campaigns, the Every Child Matters Education Fund provide opportunities for focusing public attention on important children's issues including the prevention of child abuse and neglect, improving the health of low-income children, and finding solutions in child care, early childhood education, after-school programs, and responsible decisions on federal budget and tax issues.
Idaho Vital Statistics Report The Department of Health and Welfare Vital Statistics Annual Report includes a variety of information regarding pregnancy, births, and deaths for the entire state.  Some data is listed by county as well.

Idaho Kids Count Idaho Kids Count is a nonprofit organization engaging citizens and policy makers in non-partisan, research-based discussions of strategies to improve childhood outcomes. Launched in 1994 by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Idaho Kids Count is a program of Mountain States Group a 501(c)3 community resource organization.
